Artists,
we have a small (360 sq ft) space located on South Main that we want to use to feature local artists for an exhibition for the South Main trolley tour. We need small scale pieces, and only have room to display for about 4 different artists. We are hoping to have this organized for November's trolley tour, but due to building construction, it might not be til December.

beware of the following email. it is some scam artmemphis members are getting, i got one as well.

This scam has been going on for several years and concerns counterfeit cashier's checks. It operates out of Africa and also with a name-only company registered in London. I got my inquiry three years ago, had some email exchanges with the "buyer", smelled a rat, did my internet search on art forums, and quickly threatened INTERPOL. No more inquiries. yeah we both did, we went as a cowboy and a cowgirl and thought it was going to be a great costume until we got there. there was one girl there in an elegant ball gown with a hoop skirt at least five feet around, wearing a blue jean jacket over that, her face painted white wearing an old school harley davidson helmet painted bright gold. it was a fucking great costume.

Lacey Swilley was not icluded in Carol Knowles review of the show. What would think and what would you do if you were not written about in a two/three person group show and the others were?
What could you do? Sometimes it may be better not to be written about.

That happened to me for my MFA Thesis show at the U of M, I don't remember who the reviewer was, that is not important. I think indifference is a kick in the head and is evidence that the work is not engaging at any level for the reviewer. You either like the work or you don't. Having said that, I don't always agree with reviewers opinions and consider them as constructive criticism (in most cases) and move on. I can't say it doesn't hurt my feelings, but as artists, we can't always get the rave reviews we desire. I will reitterate from a recent posting on this site about a crude critique of Jada thompson's work...love me...hate me...just remember me!

AMUM will be closed for the summer for renovation. Don't forget to come by and check out the MFA exhibit...it closes on May 19th at 5:00 pm. caseworks will remain open in the CFA lobby. Dwayne has selected several artists that will exhibit throughout the summer, beginning with Gabe Martin May 11th. AMUM will resume normal operation when classes begin in August.

The way this works: If you go to wetpaint.com and join the community (username and password) you can sign in and edit content on the site. This is a democratic way for this site to evolve. You may add your own page and title it whatever you want. I have created several basic pages to get it started. (Upper left corner under Navigation. Once you have received your account and signed on you will see a link that reads east edit...click it and your off!
